FEA today signed off on a Memorandum of Understanding to implement a World-Wide Reassignment Program for qualifying Overseas educators for the 2026-2027 school year.
Local Hires will be able to apply for the program, if they meet all qualifications. FEA won inclusion of Local Hires in the program in response to strong reaction from members to the initial reassignment program details released last fall. FEA convinced DoDEA to include Local Hires because so many of them are military spouses and their inclusion would boost the military’s goal of spousal employment.
Other important qualifiers for participants in the program include:
- Educators will only need to be at a location 6 years to be eligible to apply for reassignment.
- The program will use employees’ Service Computation Dates (SCD) in the placement process.
- FEA will be able to monitor the reassignment process as we have done in the past.
The program will be available to Overseas educators in Cuba, Europe, and the Pacific (excluding Guam). Eligible employees will be able to submit applications next school year for possible reassignment for the 26-27 school year.
FEA will hold one or more online information meetings in the near future to provide members with additional details of this reassignment program. Watch for details about that information meeting and a link to sign up in the coming weeks.
This program represents the first world-wide reassignment program since SY 19-20. FEA is grateful to DoDEA management for working collaboratively to bring about this much-needed opportunity.
