NEA Foundation Awards for Teaching Excellence

The annual awards recognize K-12 public school educators from around the country for excellence in the classroom, dedication to family and community engagement, a commitment to equity and diversity, and advocacy for the teaching profession.

2027 Nominations Now Open!

Each year, the NEA Foundation and NEA recognize outstanding educators through the NEA Foundation Awards for Teaching Excellence. The 2027 Awards will be presented in February 2027 in Washington, DC.

The Federal Education Association is now accepting nomination packets from members who wish to be considered as FEA’s nominee. While FEA may submit only one nominee to NEA, any current FEA Active member may submit materials for internal consideration.

FEA Submission Deadline

All nomination packets must be submitted to FEA by Monday, February 23, 2026, to be considered.

How to Apply

Active FEA members who wish to be considered must submit a complete nomination packet by the deadline. All materials must be properly completed and submitted together to be eligible for review.

  • Nomination letters, resumes, and endorsement letters may be submitted as Word or PDF files
  • The Awardee’s Statement must be submitted as a Word file
  • Incomplete or improperly formatted applications may not be reviewed

Submit completed nomination packets via email to FEA Vice President/Secretary-Treasurer Brian Chance at [email protected] and Adesuwa Wilson-Iguade at [email protected].

Evaluation Criteria

Applications are evaluated using five criteria:

  • Professional practice
  • Advocacy for the profession
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice
  • Family and community engagement
  • Leadership in professional development

Required Materials

A complete nomination packet must include:

  • A nomination letter
  • A resume
  • A first-person awardee statement addressing all five criteria
  • Up to three endorsement letters
  • A digital photo
