Questions Arise from Travel Ban Extensionposted April 19, 2020
News the Secretary of Defense plans to extend the current travel ban for DOD personnel (military and civilian) and their dependents through June 30 is creating much uncertainty. Members understandably have many questions about how this policy will affect RAT, PCS, Ed Travel, Retirements, etc.
FEA will be bringing members' questions and concerns to DoDEA and urging them to incorporate answers into whatever guidance the Agency puts out (presumably this coming week) about the implementation of this extended travel ban.
FEA will alert members as soon as that guidance is issued.
Meanwhile, members in foreign areas concerned they are at high risk of poor health outcome if exposed to COVID-19 are reminded of the option to relocate to a "safe haven" in any of the 50 states or Washington DC. The decision whether to take this Authorized Departure option is a difficult one that each employee and their family must decide for themselves. You can find details on the Authorized Departure option, including the request form you must submit to DoDEA, at DoDEA's "Authorized Departures Due to COVID-19" page, connect to that page here. Look for the "FAQs" tab in the center of the page for answers to common questions.
