Authorized Departures To End No Later Than December 9, 2020

The Department of State has issued a memo indicating that Global Authorized Departures for those who believed themselves to be at heightened risk of health issues if exposed to COVID-19 will end no later than December 9, 2020.

DoDEA and the rest of the Defense Department thus far have followed the Authorized Departure timelines set by the Department of State, so AD is expected to end no later than December 9 for DoDEA employees as well.

As of yet, DOD has not issued any guidelines or directives about the end of Authorized Departures. As a result, it is not yet clear what options will be available to DoDEA employees currently on AD. It is expected that DOD will issue such guidelines soon and we will share those with members once we have them.

At this point, those of you on Authorized Departure are advised to wait to see those guidelines from DOD before trying to make any plans or decisions about your next steps.
