CCRSM-Elementary Math-Many districts are now beginning the first of four professional development days for CCRSM. This professional development has been planned for our teachers by the Dana Center. Our local districts are implementing the training with the use of ISS's and in some cases teachers.

ESP/Classified Bargaining Unit-FEASR represents our ESP/Classified Members at Fort Knox, Fort Campbell, Fort Stewart, West Point and Camp Lejeune. Recognizing and addressing issues that affect our classified and our certified members makes us a strong and united Association. I recently met with Knox local Classified President Carolyn Duff, VP JoAnne Stoeckel and their leadership team while visiting Fort Knox schools. It was very beneficial to be able to attend the joint Knox Association training event and discuss local concerns effecting both classified and certified members. I look forward to doing more joint trainings in locals where we represent both classified and certified employees.

Update on the Pending Certified MLA from Dorothy Lee FEASR General Council- Three members of the DDESS bargaining team and three members of the FEA/SR bargaining team met at the Federal Labor Relations Authority (FLRA) office in Washington, DC the week of August 24 to engage in the voluntary procedure called Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) over the open issues with the Master Labor Agreement (MLA). We worked all week with two attorneys from the FLRA who were generous with their legal opinions about the likelihood of success before the FLRA concerning various proposals from both sides. The week was very successful in that the Parties voluntarily agree to continue to bargain over the open articles in the draft MLA with the goal of reaching a mutually agreeable MLA. If the parties again reach impasse, the Parties will have a new opportunity to seek assistance from the Federal Services Impasses Panel. It is important to understand that until all issues with the future MLA are resolved, the current MLA remains in full force and effect.

Weingarten Rights-Weingarten Rights guarantee an employee the right to union representation during an investigatory interview by an employer. If the interview could in any way lead to the employee being disciplined, terminated, or affect his or her personal working conditions, he or she should respectfully request that a union representative or officer be present at the meeting.

Fall Area Council-Area Council will take place in Nashville, TN from September 17-19. FEA President Chuck McCarter will be joining us for our meeting. Dr. Emily Marsh and Dr. Fran Austin will also join us on Thursday evening and Friday.
