February 2015 FEA Stateside Update

Jane Loggins, FEA Director for DDESS
Dorothy Lee, FEA-SR General Counsel

  • VERA/VSIP/RIF-At the time of this newsletter no VERA VSIP offers have been made in DDESS. DLA is having a delay processing requests for retirement estimates. FEASR and Human Resources at the Area Service Center have been discussing the process of offering VERA and VSIP in DDESS. The Association should be given a plan on when VSIP offers will be given in our local districts. This year HR from Peachtree City should be able to either be on site in districts, or in contact with our members as offer letters are sent out to assist with paperwork.
  • New Background Check Procedures-FEASR has recently signed an MOU on how new background check procedures will be implemented in DDESS. The MOU is located at the FEA website, , you will need your membership number and password to access this site.
  • Schoology MOU-At the time of this newsletter FEASR and HQ do not have a signed agreement on Schoology, Dodea's new learning management system. We have been bargaining this issue for a few months and may be close to signing an agreement.
  • School Visits-February 17-19 FEA President Chuck McCarter and I will be visiting schools at Fort Campbell, KY. Local Fort Campbell Presidents, Venita Garnett and Mari Fortin will join us as we visit schools and talk with members. We will discuss local issues such as VERA/VSIP/RIF and the closure of Marshall Elementary.

Have a wonderful long weekend and a Happy Valentines Day!
