RE: FEA President's Report
DATE: September 15, 2016

This update will be a bit shorter than usual because I'm writing it while on the fly between stops of my fall 2016 FEA World Tour. I've been in Europe the past week, attending FRS trainings and making school visits. I'm now attending the Europe Area Council meeting and, along with FEA Executive Director/General Counsel H.T. Nguyen and NEA Director for FEA Anita Lang, will accompany NEA President Lily Eskelsen Garcia on her visit to Feltwell this Friday. All of us, including Lily, will be attending the Association's teacher appreciation event here in England this weekend.

From here, I'm off to attend trainings and visit schools in Korea, Okinawa and Japan , then attend the Pacific Area Leadership Council meeting in Tokyo at the beginning of October. After that, I'll return to the FEA Washignton office for a few days before attending next month's FEA Stateside Region Area Council meeting in Tennessee.

As always, thanks for your patience and understanding if I'm unable to quickly reply to any messages sent to me while I'm on the road.

As mentioned above, NEA President Lily Eskelsen Garcia is visiting with some of our members in England this week. We're so grateful to Lily for fitting us into her incredibly busy schedule. I also want to thank Lily for highlighting FEA and celebrating our 60th anniversary in a recent blog on her Lily's Blackboard site. As a former "military brat", Lily is very familiar with our schools and our members, and her blog was a wonderful tribute to our members and the incredible work you do. You can read Lily's Blog (and subscribe to it!) by going here. Do so only while off government time and property, using your own computer and personal e-mail and do not forward anything from the blog to another member's or government employee's work e-mail address.

FEA Executive Director/General Counsel H.T. Nguyen was recently reappointed by President Obama to a fourth term on the National Council on Federal Labor-Management Relations. The council advises the President on labor-management relations within the executive branch. It is a high honor for H.T. to be appointed yet again to this body and FEA and our members are extremely fortunate to have H.T. representing us.

If you are an active or retired DODDS educator who was owed money by the federal government as a result of FEA's victory in the Pay Freeze Case, you should by now have received the back pay owed to you from DODDS's illegal extension of the federal salary freeze between January and June, 2014. If not, please let FEA know by sending a message to
