Important Dates to Remember

FLTCIP: The Federal Long Term Care Insurance Program made some pretty big changes for the new contract (between OPM and the underwriters of the FLTCIP). For those that were given incorrect information initially (all were notified by via mail and on their web site) you have until March 15th to make changes. The closing date for all others was yesterday Feb. 15th.

TSP Catch UP for 2010: Don't forget (if you are over age 50) to make your changes and or enroll for the TSP Catch-UP. You can do this through EBIS. See attachment

Mail delivery may be slow from the States: Mail from the US East coast may be slower than expected until they catch up from the recent storms. See attachment

Injury on the job: When you are injured while on the job or school property (parking lot, sidewalks, steps) please make sure your supervisor is notified, the proper forms are filled out and the Nurse has it in their log.

Transfer Program: I am not sure at this point if the closing of the Washington, D.C. federal offices last week with have an impact on the Transfer Program. No information has been received bye FEA Europe at this point. Current schedule is: First round will start March 8th. Please help to report vacancies your FRS so they can check and move that information on.

Transfer web site fixed: The transfer location menu now includes both SHAPE ES and SHAPE (American HS as it is listed) MS/HS. Applicants have until March 3rd to amend their requests. Thanks to the members who let us know of this omission so that we could inform DoDEA HQ.

Transfer Information: While some are concerned about Winter and impatiently awaiting Spring, for many the important season is Transfer Season! For the latest news, and BEST information and guidance, go to

Members, please remember to send your transfer questions to Connie Shanaghan, our "Transfer Guru." Connie has been working with the transfer program for many years and is well versed in the complicated issues and questions surrounding transfers. Members who have questions can contact Connie by writing to Put "Attention: Connie" or "Transfer Question" in the subject line and copy your District Rep as well.

Connie's "Tips for Transfers" are available on the FEA website. You will need your membership number to log in to this portion of the website.

If you are an FEA member, we hope you will take advantage of FEA's Transfer Application Verification Service. If you mail (address below), fax (202-822-7867), or email ( a copy of your application to us, we will verify that your application is included in the Transfer Program. PLEASE SEND ONLY THE FINAL VERSION OF YOUR TRANSFER APPLICATION. The Deadline for this is March 4, 2010.

PLEASE NOTE: submitting a copy of your application to FEA for monitoring does not mean you have applied for the Transfer Program. To participate in the Transfer Program you must submit your official transfer program application and any amendments via the DoDEA Web site. (The deadline for submission of applications to your principal is 5 p.m., Local time, February 12. Deadline for revisions is 5 p.m. EST, March 3.) Once you are sure you will make no more changes, you should then send a COPY of your FINAL application to FEA for monitoring.

HCR/EEO Workshop: On Feb 20th, there will be an EEO Workshop sponsored by FEA Europe HCR. The location is Mannheim MIDDLE School (10-1, lunch provided) The site was reported incorrectly in an earlier message. DIRECTIONS: The GPS address is Birkenauerstrasse 21, Mannheim 68309. The main gate is off Birkenauerstrasse (Benjamin Franklin Village). Go through the main gate and bear right. This will lead to Washingtonstrasse. Turn right by building 704. Mannheim Middle School is Building 184.
