No news yet on the Transfer Program
Allowance web link
Attached please find a PDF that outlines the level of authority for requesting LWOP. If requesting this please understand that it does have a monetary impact that could cause an indebtedness situation. We've experienced several questions regarding LWOP and how the person did not understand that the indebtedness could cause problems with their pay and LQA.
Reminder that an extension of Early Notice Award. The date was January 6th has been moved to January 9, 2009. I have attached the PDF for this announcement.
FEA Washington is meeting with DoDEA concerning the Transfer Program and we will update our members as soon as information is available. As usual, members wishing to transfer will have access to our members' tips from our expert Connie Shanaghan!
TSP - This year's annual maximum regular contribution to our TSP accounts has increased by $1,000 from $15,500 in 2008 to $16,500 for 2009. The Catch-up contribution has increased as well from $5,000 in 2008 to $5,500 in 2009. Changes can be made now through EBIS (Employee Benefits Information System) According to IRS rules to contribute in the Catch-up you must be:
- Age 50 or older during the calendar year in which the catch-up contributions are made
- Currently employed and in pay status; and
- Making regular contributions to a civilian or uniformed services TSP account, and/or an equivalent employer plan that will equal the maximum allowed by the IRS, which is $16,500 for 2009
We have sent this link out in the past. I find that sometimes they change sites so decided to include it again.
